How to read this draft
Menu names and brief ingredient summaries were checked against the official shop’s image menu boards on October 18, 2026. This site does not reproduce the menu photography or imply permission to use historic images from other local collections.
Public agency records, institutional archives and first-person accounts are preferred where available. The Deep Creek centennial directory and LocalWiki are valuable community sources, but they sometimes share wording and are not independent corroboration. Their database-style dates are not treated as exact opening dates.
All sandwich-to-history pairings await owner review. The existence of a matching historic name does not prove why the shop chose it. Some specific questions are listed below.
Editorial and promotional boundaries
The sandwich-history collection is a service concept for Deep Creek Sandwich Shop. Chris’s books and maps are presented separately as product promotion. Neither the shop’s approval of these pairings nor its endorsement of the products is implied. Product information is linked to Chris’s public website and official destinations; no unpublished book material is reproduced.
Priority review notes
- The Yacht Club
Two Deep Creek yacht clubs share the lake. Confirm whether the sandwich refers to Turkey Neck, Deerhaven, or the broader sailing community.
- Wynlyn’s
Working identification: Wynlyn’s Edge. The name’s etymology and approximate opening year rely on one community account; owner or family confirmation is still needed.
- Glenhaven
Confirm that “Glenhaven” refers to Glen Haven Restaurant and Bar, and how the shop would like its story distinguished from The Pizza Pub. Published local chronologies conflict.
- State Park
This draft interprets “State Park” as Deep Creek Lake State Park. Confirm that pairing with the shop before public release.
- Cabin Lodge
Sources differ on the precise opening year. “1930s” is used deliberately. This is the original Cabin Lodge, not Deep Creek Lodge at the Ski Harbor site.
- Savage River
“Savage River” can refer to the river, reservoir or state forest. This page covers the regional landscape; the shop’s more specific intended reference remains to be confirmed.
- The Blue Barn
The theatre’s history spans more than one venue. Precise dates for its Blue Barn location should be checked before publication.
- The Glendale
“The Glendale” is not specific enough to prove the intended namesake. This draft explores the historic Glendale Road Bridge, a documented local landmark, pending the owner’s confirmation.
- Trading Post
This draft identifies the lakeside Trading Post associated with Traders Landing. It should not be confused with the separate Shawnee Trading Post; owner confirmation is needed.
- Red Run
Confirm whether “Red Run” refers to the inn, the lake’s Red Run area, or another local subject. This page currently explores Red Run Inn.
- The Delligatti
The menu names the Delligatti family, but does not identify a particular person. This draft focuses on Jim; confirm whether the intended tribute is to him or the wider family.
