The original Cabin Lodge
The original Cabin Lodge was a log-built roadside gathering place from the 1930s. Local recollections identify Eddie and Louise Fry as its operators and remember it as one of the lake’s lively nightspots.
Its food, bar and lakeside setting served residents and travelers during the growing automobile-tourism era. The history is one of a modest local establishment becoming part of the rhythm of summer: a place people returned to because it was familiar.
Today’s Cabin Lodge Grill explicitly describes its name and design as a tribute to the older establishment. That makes the distinction important: the historic lodge and the present-day business belong to different chapters. This page explores the original place and the memory carried forward in its name.
