The lakeside Trading Post
The Trading Post was a family-run souvenir stop that began welcoming lake visitors in the early 1950s. Remembered as the “Pink Store,” it sold mementos and small treats for people passing through.
The Deep Creek centennial history lists soft drinks, snacks and ice cream among its offerings and links the name of the later Traders Landing development to this earlier shop. Archived advertisements from 1980 and 1994 help preserve the business’s presence over time.
Its story captures another side of resort life: the roadside stop where families could buy a keepsake and carry a little of their holiday home. The exact opening date and the sandwich’s intended connection should still be checked with the owner.
